Pontiac Repair: engine removal/replacement, crankshaft pulley, pontiac grand am

Question
I have a 1989 pontiac grand am LE with the 2.3 quad 4 in it. I'm looking to replace the motor but came across some troubling information. I found out that the engine is mounted to something called a cradle. In order to remove it the whole car has to be raised and the engine must be slid out from underneath. Is there any other way besides the method mentioned above?

Answer
Hi, if you are goin to pull the transmission with the motor then it would have come out from underneath. But just the engine no just remove the crankshaft pulley, and the motor mount on the front of the engine. by doin this it will give you more room, to pull the engine out.
