Pontiac Repair: Power Steering, power steering fluid, steering wheel

Question
I recently got my power steering fluid topped off because of a squealing noise when I turned the steering wheel. They mentioned that it may be a bigger problem (rack & pin?) then just topping off fluids.  The noise has persisted but the wheel is not as stiff when turning.

How will I know if there is a bigger problem with the steering without bringing my car in again? Also, is there a danger to driving the car in this condition as I am frequently on the highway?

Thank you

Answer
Hi, the squealing is the power steering pump going bad. yes there is a big danger to driving it. How will you know when there is a big problme when you have to take two hands to turn the steering wheel, and it take all you got to hold it in the road.
