Pontiac Repair: factory radio amp, 2005 buick terraza, pontiac montana sv6

Question
where is it located in my 2005 montana sv6 we have looked in the dash and under the fold down seat. We thought it was the radio but it fine I can't get no sound for the radio or the dvd player.

Answer
Hi Angela:

Is this an SV6 montana "new style" or an old style Montana?

If it's an SV6 there is issues with the radio internally that cause this to happen. You may want to look in the owners manual and locate the fuse for the radio and remove the fuse for a minute while the key is in the on position and then turn the key off and they re intall the fuse and try that is not the radio is more than likly the culprit.

Condition
Some customers may comment about one or more of the following conditions:

   •  No audio after ignition cycle.

   •  Radio presets change and audio is lost after 2-3 seconds. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 05-08-44-019.

   •  Radio always returns to FM1 after CD is ejected instead of previous selected band.

   •  CD will not play above a certain track number.

   •  CD changer reads "CD Full" when it is not.

   •  CD eject button sticks. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 04-08-44-022.

Some of these conditions may be intermittent and reset after the ignition is cycled.

Cause
These conditions may be caused by a software anomaly in the radio.

Correction
Important: The new radio must be set up for the option configuration of the vehicle. If the radio setup is not performed, the digital radio receiver, vehicle communication interface module (VCIM), disc player and video display, and the steering wheel controls may not work properly. The radio may display a calibrate message on the display.

Replace the radio with an exchange unit. Refer to the Radio Replacement procedure in the Entertainment sub-section of Service Information (SI Document ID #1527234 - Montana SV6, Relay, Terraza, Uplander or SI Document ID #1459675 - Corvette).
