-I have replaced the entire ignition system plugs all the way to the ignition control module and my car is still misfiring and hesitating my father in law told me it might be the injectors because we had the car reanalyzed and only the #2 is misfiring do you think the fuel injectors could cause such a problem in the 2.4 liter quad 4 engine

thanks for the letter

I own a 1998 pontiac grand am i am in the u.s.navy i had it diagnosed and they told me that the #2 cylinder was having a misfire problem so far i have put new spark plugs and new plug boots but my check engine light will not go off i am at my whits end with the car it only has 82,000 miles on it and i am trying to find out if the ignition coil pack is seperate from the housing or if it is one piece because i have priced the ignition coil cover but i need to know if the ignition coil comes seperatly or if it would be a better idea to replace both because my housing looks fine but i am not sure how they come apart any help would be appreciated thank you

sincerely

Hi, is this the 2.4 engine? if so the coils housing comes seperatly. When you take the cover off just turn it over and take the little screws out, then you remove the coils. from the housing. there will be little spring in the coils, when you take the coils out don't loose them.

Yes the injector could cause this. But it would not make the engine light come on. I thank it's the MAP sensor.

Answer
The map sensor is mounted on the intake manifold, it has a vacuum line and wires connected to it. There are two bolts that holds the fuel rail in place. there is a bracket that holds the fuel lines in place, this will have to come loose. remove any clamps that may be in the way, the rail injectors will come out as one.
If you have not done it do a compression check on this cylinder.
