Pontiac Repair: fuel filter, crank sensor, best bet

Question
I have a 1994 pont grand am, 3.1 engine V6 and it is not starting. It does turn over and I smell gas so I'm to believe it is a fuel filter. Put I am a woman and don't work much on car. could you direct me to the fuel filter.

Answer
If you smell fuel then either you have a leak or your engine is not burning it. After trying to start your car if there is a wet spot on the ground, you have a leak somewhere. I am betting though that your spark plugs are not working. There are a few things that can cause this mainly the crank sensor or the ignition module. The fuel filter is only a source of your problem if it is leaking. Your best bet is to have a competent repair shop diagnose and fix it. I would be happy to advise you when your diagnostics are complete, also do not be afraid to get a second opinion. When it comes to auto repair, you are the boss!
