RV Repair: converter, trouble shooting guide, fuse panel

Question
1995 Class A Catalina Coachmen
When plugged to a 30 amp land line the RV seems to get half power (dim lights, dim television and so forth), batteries do not stay charged.
Having used a trouble shooting guide it states most likely the converter (Magnetek Model#6345)needs to be replaced.  My questions is how hard will this be for a average person or do I need a lot of experience?  While this is only one problem of many--it needs my attention first.  Thanks,

Answer
Cherri,
This repair isn't too difficult.  You will need to remove the 4 screws at the bottom of the hinged cover first, making sure the camper is unplugged and the battery disconnected.  Next there will be 4 screws holding the lower replacement unit in place.  Remove these and it will be ready to slide out except for the wires that will need to be unhooked.  You will need to remove the 2 screws holding the cover over the breakers to access the wires on the left side. You should have a black wire going up to either a wire nut or a 15amp breaker and a white wire going to the neutral bussing.  On the right side you should have a red wire going to the fuses, a blue wire going to the back of the fuse panel and a white wire going to the ground connection.  You will have to remove the 2 screws holding the fuse panel in to attach to the back side of it.  Then just attach the wires from the new replacement converter to the same places you removed the old ones and put everything back together.  I hope this helps and good luck with your repair.
