Pontiac Repair: 1991 Buick LeSabre Speed Sensor, haynes book, buick lesabre

Question
I have a 1991 Buick LeSabre w/ a 3.8 in it. My "Service Engine Soon" light came on, and the speedo wouldn't work. When I would let off the accelerator, it dies every time. It will start, but only if I give it gas, let off, it dies immediately. I hooked up my scanner & it said TPS & the VSS. I took off the throttle body & replaced the TPS. Still does the same thing. I've tried to locate the VSS (Haynes book merely states that it's on the transaxle --- which one?on top or bottom? They have one little picture of what it is supposed to look like, can't find it anywhere.) Plus the code for the TPS is still coming up (unhooked the battery for about an hour & ran the car before I checked it). Any help at all would be greatly appreceiated at this point. Is it possible the ECM is causing all of this headache?

Answer
What do you mean "which one"? You only have one transaxle. The VSS is located on the right side of the car on the top of the trans.
It could be your ECM causing the problem, but you really need to diagnose it before you just start replacing parts. Just because it has a code for the TPS and VSS does not mean that the sensors are bad.
