Pontiac Repair: BLOWER MOTOR, ac delco, pontiac grand prix

Question
I see that AC Delco part # 15-8784 is cheaper than AC Delco 15-8949. Is there a differnce? I need it for 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1 and part # 15-8784 says it is not valid number.
will 15-8784 work for above car?
Thanks

Answer
I have no idea. You would need to talk to someone in a GM parts department, but I can tell you that if they have different part #s, then the part is different. Also if the 15-8784 is not a valid number, the part is probably no longer available. The 15-8949 may be an updated replacement for the 15-8784. We dont go by the AC Delco short part number in the dealers. We use the long 8 number GM parts numbers, so these numbers dont mean anything to me, but it could be that the 15-8784 was just a blower motor and the 15-8949 is the blower motor kit that we use. It is a different motor, tube, and hush panel.
