Question1984 firebird,2.8 engine,with 700r4 tranny.will not down shift in high or overdrive,shifts good in regular drive, when i take off in overdrive it shifts good 1st and 2nd then it is like it goes to neutral. and also my A/C will not engage the clutch,i have new compressor and dryer,and orfic,all new,would it be the clutch pressure switch?
AnswerThe trans problem sounds like you might have a striped out sun shell spline. The transmission will have to be taken apart for inspection.
The AC problem could be the cycling switch or it could be low system charge, HVAC control head, ECM, wiring problems, clutch relay, etc.
