Pontiac Repair: ABS Question, speed sensors, wheel speed

Question
I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand AM SE and everytime i step on the brake when im coming to a stop sign or what not the low trac light comes on and then i feel the car like hestitating like its not stopping. Then the ABS light comes on and theres 3 chimes and the brakes work perfectly. I have the ETS feature and it does it even when i turn that off. Do you have any suggestions as to how i can fix this problem? Thank you for your time in this matter.

Pete

Answer
The most common problem is a wheel speed sensor that is going bad and giving the ABS module a false reading. The module thinks that one of the wheels is skidding and it activates the ABS. The problem that you are going to have is finding which one of the 4 wheel speed sensors is the bad one. You would probably be better of taking it into the dealer to have it diagnosed. Also there are probably codes stored in the ABS module that you will not be able to read or clear without a scanner.
Hope this helps you out a little.
