Porsche Repair: Porsche 944 83 heat problem, independent garages, temp gauge

Question
Hey, how you doin, Ican't seem to regulate my 944 temperature, the thermostat(180^) is working fine,i always use anti-freeze coolant,i am sure there are no leaks of any kind, had the radiator flushed, i put a switch fan of 82 degrees so the fan can  start to work faster, now i noticed that only one fan works and when i turn on the A/C the 2nd fan does nothing. I know the 2nd fan is working because i got it to run with some wires, i want to install a switch so i can turn on the 2nd fan whenever i feel like from inside the car,,,so my question is Will havin the two fans working help me with my heating problem? (the temp gauge always reaches red point after 30 minutes of use, and it goes down to 1/2 when drivin at high speed, but when i'm in the city i have the overheating problem)

Answer
Hi Javier,

I'd sure like to know how old the radiator is and what the mileage is on the car.

The comment about the temperature reaching the redline is definitely not normal.  Getting that second fan to work will help, but I'm thinking something else is going on.

Many independent garages now have temperature sensors that can take readings, for example, of different areas of a radiator, and see if the radiator has plugged (colder) areas.  They do it without taking anything apart.  If the radiator has any age to it, I'd check that out first.  A flush tends to ensure new coolant won't be contaminated by old dirt and crud.  It doesn't guarantee to unblock clogged tubes.

Give that a try and let me know what you find.
