Porsche Repair: Porsche 944 Wont Idle, vacuum line, porsche 944

Question
Hi, I just installed a new air filter in my Porsche 944 and it won't idle. I figured that it was my computer so I disconnected the battery negative for 3 hours, came bvack and it still won't idle. After a 30 minute drive it still won't.
It stutters and goes down to 100rpm for a few seconds then stalls.
I took off the air filter and same thing. I will go back to the other air filter tomorrow and let you know.
I would think it's the computer, but it's either not or I don't know how to reset it.
Thanks,
Matt

Answer
Hi Matt.

This is what it sounds like happened.  When the air cleaner was removed and the new one installed there is a chance you inadvertently disconnected a nearby vacuum line.  Sometimes just jostling the hoses from where they rest can do it.  That's what I'd check first.  It would definitely change your idle quality.  If the new filter is the right one, I'd leave it.  You're always better off with a new filter.
