Porsche Repair: porsche 911 fuel door, porsche 911, coil spring

Question
i am in the process of restoring a 67 911.  i took the left fender off and in the process also disassembled the fuel lid.  in putting it back together, i cannot figure out where the little coil spring goes.  there is one on the hinge and one that provides tension against the latch mechanism.  thanks..tom

Answer
Hi Tom,

Dontcha just hate it when the memory goes.  I know I do.  I'm looking at a picture of your filler door and see the one spring on the hinge with its "arm" laying on the inner side of the door.  I can't see the 2nd spring and I assume that's the one you can't figure out.  Looking at the "latch" on the underside of the door, I assume the questionable spring lays inside the latch mechanism to keep it closed.  You probably already figured that out.  Can I assume the latch mechanism is also basically a hinge and the spring fits on its pin just as the first one does?

So there...That's what happens when Porsche engineering gets in the way....my answer is really a question.  Sorry bout that.
