Mitsubishi Repair: 1999 Eclipse GS Left Engine Mount Bracket Removal, crank pulley, eclipse gs

Question
Can't seem to get the left side engine mount BRACKET off (the bolts are too long and keep hitting the wheel well) to replace timing belt.  I had to pull the bottom engine mount to get the crank pulley off, but there is not enough play to get the bolts for the left engine mount bracket off.  Right now the only options i am seeing is to disengage the transaxle and take the engine out.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Graham,
I'm not exactly sure why you cannot remove the bracket, but this site may help you get some ideas:

You may just need to jack up the engine a little more to provide clearance.  Be sure you floor jack is padded very well, and slow raise the engine by placing the jack under the oil pan.
Good luck!
