Porsche Repair: Porsche 928 I cant find the fuel filter, 928 s4, porsche 928

Question
Hi,

I have a 928 S4 that was running perfectly.  I did not start it for about a month and when I tried it would not start.  The fuel system does not appear to be pressurized because when I took the fuel line off the fuel rail there was no pressure.  I was told it might be the fuel filter or the check valve, but I cannot find either.  Where is them?  Where did they hide them?  Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Gary,

I don't have a 928-specific reference but here's a very good bet:

The fuel filter is a cannister in-line type that is located next to the fuel pump and the fuel pump is under the car next to the fuel tank and they are probably close to the fuel tank in the area beteween the tank and the rear axle.

While your filter could indeed be dirty (since it doesn't sound like you've ever changed it...yuck-yuck) I'd be more suspectof the fuel pump if there is no pressure in the line.  But one step at a time.
