Porsche Repair: 944 check engine light, oil pressure guage, computer sensors

Question
I have a 1989 944 2.7L that has the check engine light on.  When put on a code reader it was in the oil system so I put a new oil sending unit and the oil pressure reads on the guage but the light is still on.  The oil pressure guage shows it has plenty of pressure.  Is there something else to check?

Answer
HI Tim,

I wish all owners were so quick to act.  I'm impressed.

In this case, I'm going to have to make an educated guess, that about the only other thing computer sensors could check for is oil level, which might initiate a trouble code.  My suggestion, at the moment, is to disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes, then reconnect it.  This will restart the computer and should clear the check engine light.

So...if you've corrected the problem, the light won't come on.  If it comes on again and the code is still oil related, let me know...I'll have to do some research on the exact meaning of the codes and what else there could possibly be to be alerted about.  At this point, you've done a fine job,  Now all we need is for the computer to tell you you've done a nice job by turning off the light.  Huh!?  I thought man controlled the computers...not the other way around.
