RV Repair: installing washer dryer, grey water tank, full time rvers

Question
Hi,
We just bought 2004 Gulfstream SunVoyager. No pre wire/plumb. Would you recommend certified RV repairman or certified plumber/electrician? Obviously we would need the cabinetry repairs as well. What is proper holding tank to connect to? If connection to black tank, would that keep that sucker washed out or too big of a risk for overfill? We are full time RVers and I just can't do the laundromat very long! What is the cost of prepping in "ballpark" numbers? Thanks a million and I anxiously await your answer (while at the laundromat!!jk).

Answer
electrical is not hard, and I would do that myself.  I am an electrican by trade though.  still, a handy man can do the electrical, even if 220 is needed.  the plumbing is also not tough.  the cabinetry is the issue.  I like a nice finished look and I am not real good with finish carpentry.  if you are, then great.  if not, I would look for someone who can make this look right.

you want to hook to the grey water tank.  you could also put in a by-pass that would also allow the use of the black tank.  but if that overflows and comes into your washer, that is the poop tank.  also make sure you put in a j-pipe to keep fumes down when the bypass is open.  I would be tempted to try that to flush the black tank out from time to time.  just remember the risks of forgetting the bypass is open.

good luck
