RV Repair: 1987 class a rockwood 32, rockwood rv, gauge sets

Question
Who made the dash gauges for the 1987 Rockwood motorhome? I find I need a sending unit for one and have no idea who makes them.

Answer
Which gauge is it?  Sending units are usually at the other end of the gauge wire.

If it is an oil sending unit, that is attached to the motor.

If it is a temp gauge, that is attached to the motor also, around the thermostat.

If it is fuel, that is in the fuel tank.  Sometimes that one can be fixed with a fuse.

If it is another gauge, the sending unit is at the location.

Gauges don't usually go bad.  They get faded or physically broken.  But when they just don't read right, that is usually the signal that is the problem.  That signal comes from a sending unit that is not in the gauge.

If you have a digital gauge, it may be bad internally, or could have a bad ground wire.

If it is a gauge you need, you may have trouble finding exact matches.  You can try the dealer.  I don't know of any rockwood RV junkyards, but may find something online.  The manufacturer of the gauge may not even be in business any longer, or may not sell to the public.

You can buy complete gauge sets online and change them all.  Then they will match and may cost around $100.  You can also try gauges from a boat.  I know of a boat boneyard in Michigan...Checker Marine.
