RV Repair: top, eye bolts, eye bolt

Question
I have a 1991 Coleman Newport that when I raise the top the right side is 1 inch lower than the left thus preventing me from closing door.  I can raise it manually and keep it raised with a piece of wood and the door then inserts perfectly. All the cables and pulleys look good and I have kept them lubricated. Can an adjustment be made?

Answer
Ok this is pretty easy if you can find the main cable. Usually located on the back side of the crank where you insert the handle. There should be a main cable that attaches to a block or a metal plate it should have 4 eye bolts with a cable tied to each one. NOW THIS IS WHERE YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL REMEMBER THE TOP IS UP AND OVER TIGHTENING CAN CAUSE A CABLE TO BREAK AND THE TOP TO FALL ON YOU !!!!! Find the cable going to the side that is sagging and tighten it you may have to support the eye bolt with a screw driver to prevent the whole cable from turning. WARING IF THE EYE BOLTS ARE SPREAD OPEN AND THE CABLES ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF ADJUSTMENT PLEASE STOP. TAKE IT TO A SHOP THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF THE TOP FALLING ON YOU. With all that in mind usually everything goes ok and its pretty easy to fix just use caution. When you get ready to adjust cable and have any questions please contact me and I will try to get back to you asap.
