RV Repair: hot water heater, hot water heater, pilot flame

Question
Eddie

I have a 2000 Fleetwood wilderness lite trailer model # 824Z. When i try to lite my hot water heater i flow the instructions for lighting the pilot light. When i turn the control from the pilot light to the normal position the pilot flame does not stay lit. I thought it may have been because the boiler air tube was clogged but i cleaned it out. This issue started after we had a heavy wind at our camp ground.

Hope you can help

Answer
Ok try this IF AND ONLY IF you have a long lighter to light the pilot. Then hold it there until you heat the thermocouple so the main burner will kick in. This should help the pilot blead all the air out. However if the pilot goes out after it reaches temp or the main burner does not light the thermocouple may have to be changed. USE CAUTION WHEN DOING THIS Let me know if this works if not then we will go from there
