RV Repair: coleman camper electrical problem, wiring problem

Question
I recently purchased a '99 Coleman Niagara pop-up camper. Everything works on the camper when I have it connected to a 110v electrical line. But when I try to run the lights, pump etc on a 12v battery nothing works. I've checked the battery and its good. When first connecting the battery, I may have hooked it up to the wrong posts (as there is a sticker on the front stating that I must be sure to connect the white cable from the camper to the negative post, and the black cable to the positive post) and I connected the black cable to the negative post for several hours. Would this cause a converter to fail or should I look elsewhere for the problem? I need help. Thanks.

Answer
well that was not really the most smart thing that you could have done but it may not be as bad as you may think. I would start at the switch box. This is going to be a small box with 3 sets of lines going in to it. Something like your shore power, battery and your line out. There may be a fuse in there or something may have disconneted in there. test this by placeing a mulit meter on your line coming in from the battery and see if you have power coming in, then test your line out and see if power is coming out. If not then there is your problem... If so then move on to your converter. That is the only other place that there could be a problem. Check all the fuses on the front panel and make sure that you have good power getting there fromthe battery. This should put you in the right area and hopefully fix your problem.
