RV Repair: leaky window, silicone sealer, weep holes

Question
Dave: I have a leaky sliding window in my class c motorhome.  The window is in the bedroom on the right side and has the wall below the window damaged.  How do i find out where it is leaking and how to fix it?  Thank you

Answer
Victor, I would have someone on the outside with a hose while you are inside and watch for the water to come in. Usually if it is not coming through the seal in the glass then it is either coming in from around the outside frame where it connects to the coach or else the weep holes have plugged up and letting the water stay in and not escape. By doing this you should find the leak. If it is in the outside of the frame then use a silicone sealer around the outside of the frame to seal it. Remember to leave the bottom of the window clean of sealant because it allows water to get out if it gets in. Thanks, Bill
