RV Repair: Norcold N300 (2-way), pilot light, column inches

Question
Bill, I have just replaced the thermocouple last fall because my refrigerator
would not  run on gas.  We then used it on a long road trip with no problems.
But the next time it would not stay lit.  The pilot light will stay lit as long as I
hold the ignite button, but goes out as soon as you let go. (Surely I don't have to
replace the thermocouple every time we take a trip.) Any suggestions?

Answer
Charles, Usually the thermocouple last longer than this. You can test it or take it in to be tested at a shop. Try taking it loose and re-tightening it. Sometimes the contact gets lost and it can't get the electrical current to go through. Also check to see that you have 11 water column inches of L.P. pressure and that the thermocouple is immersed in the flame good. If all this is good then it needs replaced. Any repair shop should have a tester to check to see that it is good. Thanks, Bill
