RV Repair: onan generator, starter switch, joe joe

Question

When starting the generator from the cabin switch, it starts and than turns off when I release the switch. The starter switch on the unit has not worked for some time. Can this be related? Any information would very much appreciated. Thanks, Joe

Joe, To answer that I would have to say that this can be related although if it used to work from inside and never from outside then I would have to say it is something else. Has it sat for a long period? If so check the fuel filter and the fuel pump to make sure they are working right. Also if it has then try to get some carb cleaner that onan makes and spray that in the carb. After that if it is still not working I would take it in and have it looked at. There are so many things that it could be it would be hard for me to even try to tell you all. I hope this helps, Bill
