RV Repair: Slide on a 2001 Dutchman Sport, circuit breakers, volt circuit

Question
Hello I recently purchased a 2001 Dutchman Sport and it is my first travel trailer so I am a newbie. Before I can transport it I have to get the slide back in and I really don't know how to do that. The person I bought it from said she didn't think the motor worked anymore but that she only used it once since she initially bought it brand new. My question is if the motor does not work can the slide be manually pushed in? Also I noticed a battery at the front of the trailer mounted to the tongue. Does this operate the motor for the slide? If so could it just need a new battery? I have a volt meter and just about any other tool I think I could possibly need but I have to travel out of town to pick up this trailer so I would like to know what I am getting into before I make the trip.

Thanks

Jason

Answer
Jason, First I apologize for the length it took to answer this but I have been having computer troubles. Yes you need to have battery power to work the slide. If you have 2 people you can find the motor and with a meter see if there is power there when someone pushes the switch. If there is power there the motor is probably bad. If not then you need to run down where it is losing the power. One thing you can check if there is no power is there will be 12 volt circuit breakers near the battery. Check both posts for power to see that they are good. Thanks, Bill
