RV Repair: Removal of awning, retractable awning, cotter pin

Question
What is the best way to remove the retractable awning on a rv.

Answer
George,
Roll the awning out about 12-18".  Insert a large cotter pin through the hole in the end caps and through the spring assemblys inside them.  Remove the lag bolts holding the upper rafter bracket to the sidewall.  Remove any set screws in the awning rail that are holding the fabric in position.  With one person on each hardware arm remove the foot from the bottom bracket and walk the awning out towards the front or rear of the RV.  I hope this helps, good luck and happy camping.
