RV Repair: Onan Generator, fleetwood bounder, onan marquis

Question
Hi Bill, I have a 1992 Fleetwood Bounder with an Onan Marquis 7000 generator.  My generator seems to start and run fine, but then quits unexpectedly after about 10-15 minutes and then will not start again.  If I let it sit for a while, it will start and then do the same thing.  I cannot seem to pin-point the problem.  I just got back from Florida and tried to use it two times will traveling (once while driving and once stopped at a rest area) and had this problem.  However, when I returned home I tried it again and it ran fine for 40 minutes.  I even took it for a drive to see if that affected it, but I had no problems.  This is why I am so perplexed and cannot determine the problem.  It seems to act up the warmer the weather, but I am not absolutely positive about this.  All I have done thus far is replaced the fuel filter and changed the oil and oil filter.  I am going to try it again in the morning.  Any ideas on what this could be?

Answer
Scott, It very well could be from the different climate or even elevation depending on what it runs on. If it is quite different where you went from where you live. Things run different in different climates and when you live in an area your things are tuned for that area. I hope this makes sense to you. I might try checking the fuel filter and pump to make sure they are working fine and change the air filter. Also if it is supposed to have a cover on it never run it without that cover on. Thanks, Bill
