Car Stereos: UNINSTALL, mono amp, gauge wire

Question
QUESTION: I just bought a 05 grand prix and dont really see a place to remove the dash to get the factory cd player out.... i am tryin to add a low hi convertor so i can hook up my amp... any suggestions on how to instal it..

ANSWER: hey Tyrone -

There are way too many cars out there for me to know exactly how to take every one apart by heart.  A big part of installing is figuring it out as you go along.

How many channels is your amp?

Let me know

QUESTION: its a mono block amp.. jbl not alot of power.. i was gonna roll wit a 8 gauge wire kit and my speakers are not all that great just 200 12's 300 rms a piece..

Tyrone

If you're running a mono amp, the easiest way to run a hi-low converter is to just snatch the signal from the back speakers in the trunk instead of running wire all the way from the head unit.  Pick a speaker, snip the insulation a little wrap and solder a wire around the bare area and run it to the amp.  That's the "easy" way to do it.  If you want to do it a little better, cut the wire, strip it and twist and solder two wires onto it.  One runs to the amp, one to the speaker.  Keep in mind you need to do this to the positive and negative wires both.

JBL makes good stuff, it should sound fine if you do it right.

Let me know if you need more help.
