RV Repair: Trailer dry rot, loinel, apperciated

Question
My Husband and I recently bought a 13' Loinel travel trailer and found some dry rot in one corner. The "support beam" in the upper rear drivers side is rotten and we need to know how to go about replacing it. Is is ok to take off the metal skin? We do not want to have to replace it so any advice on how to take it off without damaging it would be great. Also some advice on how to start would be greatly apperciated. Thanks a million.

Answer
Sheri, Yes you should be able to remove the skin without damaging it. First be sure that it is not glued on because if it is you are going to have to replace it. But if you remove enough to get to the damaged wood you can repair it then. You may need to have 2 people to take the metal off so it doesn't get bent. If you bend it you will see it even after you put it back on so be very careful. Thanks, Bill
