RV Repair: dometic fridge not working on electricity, old c class, vertical tube

Question
Hi there, I recently bought an old C class (79 diplomat), its in great shape, only problem is that the fridge will only work on propane, works great but when i  am plugged in and have the controls on electric it does not work??? any ideas, thanks

Answer
Derek, it would help to know the make and model of the refer, but as a general answer i would look at the 110 element. You can find it by going outside and opening the back of the refer and look usually on the right side and you should see a vertical tube with 2 wires coming out of it. That is the element and follow it back to where it plugs in. Then disconnect it and using an ohm meter test to see that there is continuity there. If there is then it is before that, but usually that is what goes first unless it is a newer unit and has electronics. Also make sure that the 110 ac plug on the outside has power to it. If not then it is usually on the same circuit as the G.F.I. plug. That is usually in the bathroom unless this one has the G.F.I. circuit breaker. These 2 places are the most common. If you need any more help please try and get a make and model so I know just what kind of refer you have. Thanks, Bill
