RV Repair: 1971 Holiday Rambler Vacationer jalousie window, e mail address, gas water heater

Question
We are repairing various parts of this trailer.  We have gutted it, repaired some floor and walls, and are ready to start putting it back together.  First, I desperately need to know where to find a rear jalousie (louvered) window.  Next, can you test a gas water heater?  Is there anything for which I need to look that could be a problem in a water heater of this age?  Third, do y'all mind if I ask and ask and ask as I progress with this camper as this is the first one we have ever done?  :)  Thanks for your time!  Audrienne

Answer
Well as to where you can find a window, well you can order them at most R.V. Repair places. You will need to know the hole size that the window goes into and whether it is a radius window. From there you can get just about any style that you might want. If you have any trouble trying to find one you can let me know and I can help. As for the water heater, well you should hook it up and fill it and test it to see that it works ok. Because you have broken the L.P. system you will need to do a drop pressure test at the stove to make sure there are no leaks. You will also need to know what the L.P. pressure is at flow. Both these take a manometer to perform and you can get one or even make one with the right tubing. I suggest buying one or borrowing one as they are not real cheap. If the water heater has no leaks and tests good, by that I mean it lights and goes through it's cycle then it is good. If it is an atwood it has a aluminum tank and if it is a Suburban it has they say a glass lined steel tank. Feel free to ask me as you progress in this venture.

Audrienne, There is another person on this site that saw your post and asked me to send you their e mail address and hope that you will send them an e mail because they also purchased a Holiday Rambler that is older and want to discuss things with you if you wouldn't mind. Thanks again, Bill  Their e mail address is bkh@pa.net
