RV Repair: water heater repair rv, water heater repair, gas valve

Question
Hi Thom,

I would appreciate receiving info concerning an Atwood GC6A-7E. Everything works fine except for the following. Although there's no visible leak at the propane connection, it seems that there's always a faint(at times pronounced) detectable residual odor of propane. It leads me to suspect that the gas valve (wherever it's located) doesn't close completely thus allowing a minute amount of propane to escape. If the analysis is correct, is it possible to clean this valve instead of replacing some rather expensive part?  Thanks for your reply.

THERE IS NO WAY FOR YOU TO FIELD REPAIR A LPG GAS VALVE.
THE SAFETY ISSUE CRITICAL. WHEN A LEAK OCCURS IN A GAS VALVE IT MEANS ITS TIME TO REPLACE.. NOT REPAIR.
THERE ARE TOO MANY STORIES OF HAVING IT GO WRONG, WITH THE RESULT BEING INJURY AND LOSE OF PROPERTY.
