RV Repair: Convertor, damon challenger, fuses

Question
The convertor in the 1999 Damon Challenger will not keep the batteries charged.  The batteries will charge when the engine is running.  We put the batteries in and started the Engine.  The engine would not stay running.  Found out that we hooked the batteries in reverse.  We rehooked the batteries up and everything worked with the exception of the Convertor.  Checked all the fuses.  Got the sclamatics out to make sure that all was right.  What have we not checked or did we fry the convertor???

THAT CONVERTER SHOULD BE PROTECTED BY A FUSE. BUT HOOKING UP BATTERIES BACKWARDS CAN BURN UP WIRES, WHICH CAN BE HARDER TO FIND. YOU'LL NEED TO TRACE THE WIRES FROM THE BATTERIES TOWARDS THE CONVERTER TO FIND YOUR FAULT.
MOST CONVERTERS HAVE BUILT IN CHARGERS THAT CAN BE DAMAGED AS WELL.
DOES THE CONVERTER "HUM" WHEN YOU PLUG IT IN?
OR MAKE ANY CLICKING SOUNDS?.
