RV Repair: generator, onan generator, oil level

Question
I have a onan generator on my hitchhiker camper, 1992 model. The generator will run as long as I hold the switch in the start position, It shuts off imediately when i let the switch go. I can keep it running only by holding the switch in start position. The oil level is fine and I dont think I have a fuel problem because it will keep running with switch in start position.Please advise

Hi Glenn. Generators are not my strongest point of expertise, but I have seen this before. I think you need a new switch and board. I would call the Gen manufacturer to confirm this before spending the cash on parts you may not need. It's been a while sense I've worked on Gens.
