RV Repair: jammed A & E awning safe-t-lock lever, spring assembly, postion

Question
I loaned my caless "C" to a friend and when he returned it I was unable to lower the A&E (8500 / 9000) awning. On close inspection I found the safe-t-lock lever pushd to fsr forward (toward the coach, which is the position to put the awning up) I cannot mover the lever to the lower position & don't want to force it for fear of csusing damage.  Suggestions ?  Thanks

Answer
It sounds like the awning was released from the full open postion and allowed to roll up too fast. This Jammed the release, or Pall.  In order to release this, you will have to force the awning to roll up tighter just slightly in order to get the pressure off of this.  Some times you can do this by hand, some times you have to put a strap type oil filter wrench on it and use a tool.  If neither of these work, you will have to force it open and replace the camlock spring assembly.
