RV Repair: RV slide-out gear damage, rv manufacturer, 5th wheel

We have a Newmar Mountain Air 5th wheel with a bedroom and LR slide. The bedroom slide would not operate propertly after a recent trip, upon inspection under the bed where the mechanism is located, the gear is damaged. We contacted the Mfg, Klauber Machine and Gear; they do not sell parts except to a dealership. The dealership wants $370 for the entire assembly, and only the gear wheel is damaged. Any idea where we could get just the gear, not the whole assembly? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with that brand of S/O mechanism. I would call NewMar parts deppartment. I know several people who work there, and I would think they would be able to help you out in one way or another. They may ask you to provide measurements and an email picture.
A lot of times, RV manufacturer's service departments will change out a complete S/O mechanism, and they may have some laying around that they can "rob" some parts off.
