so when your refridge does smell like ammonia what usually happens, where does it happen, and y cant any-one fix it.

If a RV refrigerator has the odor of ammonia coming from its sealed system, it normally costs more to have someone attemp a repair than it would to either buy a remanufactured, sealed refrigeration unit or purchase a new refrigerator.

Often times, the odor of ammonia is sensed on the inside of the refrigerator section, but sometimes can be elsewhere.

Steve, are you smelling the odor of ammonia within your refrigerator, or elsewhere? If so, be sure and do not continue operating the refrigerator. It may become a safety hazard when a leak occurs.
