RV Repair: Slide Structure/ Recarpet, fleetwood prowler, foot slide

Question
I have two questions. First I need to recarpet my 1998 Fleetwood prowler with a 16 foot Slide, how do i get the carpet under the sliding section.  2)  The exterior wall over the slide is begaining to sag making the slide not go in all the way.  How do i repair this.

Thanks for your help,

Scott

Answer
1) Without knowing how your slide is designed, I can't tell you for sure. Usually you have to take the slide loose from it's mechanisms and set it on some sawhorses to get to the bottom part of it. I would call Fleetwood customer service and they should be able to direct you for sure on how to accomplish this. You might not need to comepletely remove it.
2) Again it depends on how the header above the slide is constructed. Either way, you will probably have to remove the slide before you can repair the header. If it is wood, you will need to replace whatever is there. If it is plywood, you may want to replace it with a 2 X whatever. If it is aluminum, you might be able to put a hydraulic jack on it and straighten it up. But then you need to figure out why it sagged to begin with, and brace it somehow.
Hope this helps some,
Dave
