RV Repair: punctured HW tank, bearer of bad news, safe bet

Question
I have found two pen-point sized punctures in my tank. Since I have never repaired an RV tank, I am wondering if it is possible? (given that the tank is made of aluminium - I think) or is this a symptom of more to come (and therefore requires me to purchase new)?

Answer
Hi Michael:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, however the small holes are caused from corrosion or electrolosis. There are so many different metals used on RV'S. There is no stopping this. Your only safe bet is to replace this with a new one. If your old one does not have electric ingnition, it would be worth the little extra cost to now upgrade now. Another option available is to get a 10 gallon W/H instead of the 6 gallon one. You will be surprised the difference this will make.

If I can further assist you, please feel free to contact me.
