RV Repair: water damage, water leaks, rear corners

Question
Our 2000 Starcraft has been leaking without our knownedge and now has water damage at the rear corners under the siding.  The wood can be scratched apart with your nail. The camper has been covered with tarps and tape for three months to try and dry it out.  How would be the best way to repair this damage and should all of the wood be replaced?  The dealer only wanted to seal the corner molding and reputty. Thanks, Mitch

Answer
Hi Mitch:

Unfortunately water leaks do happen to the best of us RVers'
Ive had some minor damage to my coach as well from unexpected leaks.

Regarding your camper, I guess depending if the insurance was paying for damage, or either I had plenty of money or not may determine which way I would proceed with this repair. Myself I would perfer to have it done the right way and try and have it put back in as close to origional shape as possible. I really hate to have things just sort of "patched up". Everyone's financial situation is so different, that is why its hard for me to advise you which way to go about having this repaired.

I not sure if I have been able to help answer your question or not Mitch, but if you would like to give me more information, I will assist if I can.

Regards, Larry
