RV Repair: water heater, suburban water, holiday rambler

Question
Garry,
I have a 77 Holiday Rambler Presidential 3000. I hooked the water up and heard a pop and water began pouring out of the water heater. I can't figure out how to get to it to service it, other than pop all the rivets on the exterior. How do I replace it if it is needed? And how do I know what kind if it needs replacing. I'm usually pretty handy with projects, but this is my first project RV. It belonged to my grandparents.

Answer
this may be caused by a broken line or from the water heater it's self, Atwood and Suburban water heaters mount differently.  If it is an atwood, you will have to drill out the rivets to remove the water heater, if suburban, you shouldn't need to, however in each case you will need to access the back of the water heater prior to removal to disconnect the lines, and you may find the problem there also.
