RV Repair: AC Unit Not cooling, airxcel inc, rvp rv products

Question
Our AC Unit in our Terry 2001 26' travel trailer is not cooling.  It blows fine, and the air is a little cool - but not COLD like it usually gets.  Normally, we can hang meet in there.  The AC unit is RVP RV Products - A Division of AIRXCEL, Inc (7000&8000 Series manual).  Hope you can help.  We leave on a trip this Thursday and are hoping this is something we can fix ourselves as our money is already tied up in our travel expenses.  THANKS

Answer
Hi Billy:
Take the cover off the unit and make sure the compressor is running. If it is not make some electrical checks to see why. If the compressor runs the small line (high pressure) should get hot to the touch. If it does not then the thing is low on freon and needs to be recharged and the reason for the freon loss found. If you have not done that before it might be best to let a shop do that. You can at least eliminate the compressor yourself. Good luck,
Bill
