Saturn Repair: 1997 sl1 transmission, torque converter, transmission problems

Question
I have a 97 sl1 with transmission problems. I was told the front seal needs replaced, but was also told the 'inner guts' needed replaced. Does the entire transmission need to be pulled for the front seal to be done? And if I took this into a shop, how much am I looking at to spend? Thank you.

Answer
Yes the transmission will need to be removed. The front seal is the seal next to the torque converter, which transfers power from the engine to the transmission. I know removal and reinstallation of those transmissions are pricey. What is required is the removal of the front subframe.
