Saturn Repair: clutch slave bleeding, clutch slave, clutch pedal

Question
Hi I have a 2001 saturn sohc 1.9l SL.
I have had to replace my clutch slave/ master assembly.  I bought a low km used one.  Since it is a sealed unit I assumed it would be up to pressure.  I have pumped the clutch pedal, slowly with and without the cap on.  It does not seem to be coming up to pressure. Is there something I an overlooking?
Thanks Lee

Answer
Lee,
That's the glory of the Saturn sealed clutch hydraulic system.  If you're not comming up to pressure, there's something wrong.  Have someone hold the slave cylinder between their hands (out of the trans case, trying to push the rod inside the cylinder) while you pump on the clutch.  If your buddy doesn't get any push at the slave cylinder, the unit has a problem.  If he gets plenty of push, your clutch has a problem.  Hope this helps
