Saturn Repair: Saturn air conditioner, auto repair shop, faulty engine

Question
Hi!  I have a 2000 L-Series Saturn.  Yesterday all of a sudden the air conditioner quit blowing cold air.  The car has 58,000 miles on it and has not had any other major problems.  Do you have any suggestions on why this has happened?  I recently moved to a new city and have no idea who I can get to look at it.  Do you think that it's the compressor?  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Renae,
I am sorry to say that the 2000 L Series is completely differnt that the vehichles I am familiar with. Saturn redesgned the faulty engine of the 1991-1998 SL Series with a design, that unfortunately, isn't any better.
Again, sorry I can't offer any info.  Just for the info I do know about A/C, If the A/C stopped all of a sudden, I would suspect the Relay that controls the A/C from coming on, the Clutch of the compressor, or, rarely, the compressor, itself.  If it happened over the span of days or weeks, then I would lean towards a leak in the system or the system may have become blocked by debris in the system.  My first advise is DON'T TAKE IT TO SATURN!  They'll rip you off, guarenteed!  A general auto repair shop or better yet, a sop that speciallizes in A/C and Radiator would be a good choice.

I really hope all turns out OK,
Sincerely,
Greg Moore
