Saturn Repair: light and load noise, saturn sl, vroom

Question
I got two questions. I got a 93 Saturn SL  I haven't done any major work to it, but just its regular tone up every couple of months.
1. For a while the checked engine light comes on, but as I continue to drive it, it will turn off, but later it will turn back again.
2. For a month or two when I start my car in the morning it sounds very load like if I got a load exhaust on my car. I don't feel any change on the car but it's just a load deep vroom. Can you please help? Thank you.

Don't worry about the Check Engine Light if it comes on and goes out intermittantly.  It is an old car and the sensors are reporting errors BUT the engines computer is able to clear them out.
The exhaust is going bad...the Saturn design is very good and will be relatively quiet even with a hole or rusted out pipe.  Unfortunately, the only fix is to thave the exhaust repaired.
