Saturn Repair: Brake repair for 2003 VUE, spongy brakes, saturn dealership

Question
I own a 2003 Saturn Vue with approx. 27,000 miles and it has been nothing but trouble since it was purchased.  My latest problem involves the brakes... my AWB light is on and I don't live anywhere near a Saturn dealership.  Several mechanics have looked at it and they are unable to get "into" the brake system due to the computer code.  The present situation is that my brakes feel like they're slipping.  I push them down and it feels like they grab and slip and may not even stop.  I'm sure that the longer I drive this piece of junk the worse it gets... any suggestions?  What about just getting rid of it?  Can it be sold the way it is?  The closest dealership is at least three hours away.  Help!

Answer
Patricia,
I would assume, by what you have written, that your Master Cylinder has some problems.  That is the cause of your "spongy" brakes.  Is it the "AWB" or "AWD" light that is on?  That would help me out.

The other option, take it to a GM dealer.  Saturn and GM go hand in hand.  A compentent GM mechanic should be able to give you a better idea of what is wrong.  Hope this helps.
