Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman running rough

Question
QUESTION: Hello, My tractor is running very rough. Had to add some seafoam to get it started now it runs rough. Craftsman from sears, briggs and Stratton I have a video but I cannot attach it.

ANSWER: Since you had to add Seafoam to get is started either the fuel(gasoline) is old and stale and/or the carb needs to be cleaned due to old fuel in the fuel system.

Can you send me the model number, located on a sticker about the size of a business card usually found under the seat or rear fenders, so I can look up your mower?

Thanks.

QUESTION: Hi Eric,
Thank you for your reply. The model is 917 273 820, What is the easiest way to drain the old gas? I think you nailed it!

Answer
According the parts diagram you have a Briggs and Stratton model 31P777-0296-E1 engine.

I did not see a fuel pump on your engine so there are a couple of ways to drain the fuel tank.

You can use a siphon pump and siphon most of the fuel out of the tank.  Or you could dis-connect the fuel line from the carburetor and drain the fuel from the fuel hose into an approved gas can.

Does your carburetor have any wires connecting to the bottom of it?
