Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mower wont run correctly

I have a  8.5 HP yellow/green yard man (bug) mower. After using it for about 20 minutes and I turn it off it will not turn over. It seems like it is to hot. Once it cools down I can start it again. What could be the problem

What is the engine model, type and code number?

I need the engine information to tell if you have an OHV or L-head engine.

Have you dis-connected the battery cables and cleaned the battery terminals and cables ends with a wirebrush?  I have fixed a lot of mowers just by cleaning the connections.
