Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): fire at spark plug., coil resistance, pink wire

Question
I had no fire at spark plug. Replaced coil still no fire I don't have a manuel for 620D Kawaski where do i go next?

Answer
Hi Andy

Here is web site for kawasaki service manual fd620d

http://www.smallenginewarehouse.com/images/manuals/FD620_Service_Manual.pdf

from memory this system uses a transistor controlled ignition system
it may have  2 ignition pulser coils and a reluctor , 2 x ignition coils and  ignitor unit

if your battery and charging systems are fine and you have a output from both  triger coils and both coils are new - and all grounds and connections are good.   make sure you have 12 volt d/c input to the ignitor unit    think orange and white wire comes from switch to ignitor ?

pulse coil resistance should be between 85 - 270 ohms   between pink wire   and  white / blue  wires  on 1 set of wires  and   between yellow wire  and  green /white  wire  on the other set of wires

use ignitior test chart on page 121 of the downloaded service manual  test  with a known good multimeter-

if you have no spark from either coil and pulser units are are ok  then reluctor is ok this assumption true because their would be no pulse output either  but  your ignitor may be faulty

download service manual  - it may help you

hope i have helped narrow something down for you

cheers paul
